About Me

Hi! I’m David Hammond, a 37-year-old home cook from Asheville, North Carolina. If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s how to transform kitchen chaos into simple, satisfying meals. I didn’t grow up in the kitchen—I was a middle school science teacher who had a talent for making things more complicated than they needed to be (just ask my students about the time I turned a cake into a volcanic eruption). But everything changed when my twins came along. Life got busier, louder, and a lot more real. That’s when I realized feeding a family of five didn’t have to be stressful or bland.

My journey into one-pot cooking started the day we received a slow cooker as a housewarming gift. I threw in some chicken thighs, basic spices, a can of tomatoes, and walked away. Eight hours later, we had a meal that tasted like magic. From there, I was hooked. The Instant Pot followed. Then the air fryer. Now? I can pull together creamy Tuscan chicken or crispy honey garlic wings with one arm holding a toddler and the other stirring the pot.

This site is for real people—those balancing work, kids, pets, laundry, and everything in between—who still want to put good food on the table. I’m not here for fancy plating or restaurant techniques. I’m here to help you create comforting, flavorful meals with as little stress as possible.

My kitchen motto? One pot. Big flavor. Minimal mess. That means more time at the table and less time cleaning up. Every recipe here is tested in my own home, usually with my Labrador, Mabel, watching closely in case something tasty hits the floor.

Stick around, and you’ll find hearty, forgiving meals that make you look like a pro—no culinary degree required. And if you ever blow up a soup or forget the lid on your pressure cooker? You’re not alone. We’re figuring it out together, one pot at a time.
